It is definately possible (and quite easy) to damage the FOX engine. I keep doing it as FE Gold but haven't worked out what's causing it yet. After 2/3 laps my top speed drops by 3/4mph. It may be caused by engine braking rather than hitting the rev limiter though. I'll do some more testing and post back when i find out what's causing it.
Sorry to hear about R4R, you were a great team. Hope you all find good new homes. Of coarse you'd be welcome at Crossover Racing GF, but I don't think we have very much to offer you!
Potenitally the most interesting race sim for years. What a waste.
Considering those viewing this thread are probably the niche they are aiming for I would be pretty concerned about the reaction to the pricing if I was them. It's several times the price of a good sim and it looks like an arcade game.
It'll be a flop with little community to race against. I'm sure they'll change their minds and charge a flat fee in the end though.
I don't think it's the same thing. No-one watching the race would know your fuel load or tyre temperatures. Anyone watching the race (like your pit crew) can see how many times you pit.
OK, thanks count. 'Setup Changes Requested' was what I meant when I said "Setup changes at pit stop" in my first post btw. Perhaps it's even a bug and was meant to be shown on a seperate line?
I did some tests and it doesn't switch what it says it's going to do. But that's not to say that it's doing what it says it will! Let me know what you find.
I had a good search and I don't think this has been mentioned before but appologies if it has...
I noticed that when you make a setup change during the race via the F12 menu, some text (something like "Setup changes at pit stop") appears in place of the repair damage [on/off] option. So if you make a setup change and then decide you want to change the damage repair option you have to undo your setup changes for the damage repair option to reappear and then re-define your setup changes, which is pretty fiddly in the middle of a race!
So my suggestion is that the damage repair option is not hidden when you make a setup change in the F12 menu.
Point taken. It depends if you have a pit radio. I would like to see it implimented anyway as in races like the GFC league you probably would know. Best option would be to have it as something which could be turned on/off for each server.
And I only play LFS (and a bit of rfactor). I don't really need the very best in detailed rendering for racing, but a decent framerate in LFS is important.
Doonster - thanks very much for the offer but I'm not sure it would be a good idea to send a gfx card half way round the world by post so I think I'll go for a new one.
I'll keep an eye out for a good deal on a 7600GT, otherwise I still think I'll go for the X800 GT which I reckon should be just about fast enough for what i need.
Sorry should have said. PSU is 300W and it's PCI-e. I did some reading and actually looks like I will need to spend a bit more to get a card that's as good as my old FX5900XT.
I thought this from HDUK looked pretty good for the money (£32 delviered) and should be a bit quicker than my old card:
I've just bought a new PC (Intel Dual Core 2.2GHz) and am looking for a graphics card to replace the on-board graphics.
I only play LFS and a bit of rfactor so I don't see any need to buy anything other than a budget card (I'm thinking about £35 should do it) as my current machine (AMD 1.7Ghz with NVIDIA 5900XT) can run both games adequately. I'd like to be able to play LFS on full detail without much drop in FPS with lots of cars around though.
Does this sound resaonable? Any specific card reccomendations appreciated.
